SAILORS FOR THE SEA JAPAN

Like drops in the ocean, sailors and boaters are individuals. But together we’re creating a powerful wave of change that is sweeping the globe.

Our first international affiliate was formed in 2011 and is based in Yokohama, Japan. Since the inception, Ms. Minako Iue, Vice Chairman, has worked to educate and engage the public on issues related to ocean health through the use of Rainy Days Kits and Ocean Watch. They have helped proliferate the Clean Regattas program in Japan with participation from Hayama Marina Yacht Club in Kanagawa and the 37th Kwan Kan Annual Match.

In September of 2013 Sailors for the Sea Japan published the first ever sustainable seafood guide in Japan with support from the David and Lucille Packard Foundation. The annual Blue Seafood Festival helps grow awareness of the Blue Seafood Guide and the importance of eating sustainably.
